A 28% increase in aircraft traffic in Oman’s airspace

Aircraft traffic through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman in the first two months of 2023 reached 8,500, carrying 1.066 million passengers. Overall, aircraft traffic in Oman’s airspace increased by 28% to 34,000, according to data published by the Civil Aviation Authority.

According to the data, the number of passengers at Muscat International Airport increased by 114% to 953,000 passengers compared to 444,000 passengers in the same period in 2022. At the same time, aircraft traffic increased by 67% to 7,400, in addition to an increase in the movement of goods transferred to 11,300 tons.

As for Salalah Airport, aircraft traffic increased by 20% to 930 aircraft, compared to 775 aircraft at the end of February 2022, in addition to an increase in the number of passengers to 105,000.

However, the figures indicate a 75% drop in passenger traffic at Sahar Airport to 1,800 from 7,000 passengers during the first two months of 2022. Aircraft traffic increased by 31% to 117 aircraft, while aircraft traffic at Duqm Airport decreased by 15 % to 70 planes and the number of passengers increased by 24% to 5,000 passengers.
