We are now looking for operational leaders for the Police Contact Center (PKC) in Stockholm. The police agency, region Stockholm has approximately 6,680 employees. The region consists of four police areas including Gotland, regional units and a regional office that reports directly to the regional police chief.

The operational unit’s mission is to actively support local police areas, police areas and units in their basic mission. We do this by developing and providing specialist skills that increase the operational effect in working with the region’s problem picture. With specialist competence, high service and good collaboration, the operational unit is an important part of the operational and crime-fighting work in the Stockholm police region.

The unit consists of several sections:
– Traffic police
– Maritime police
– Police dogs
– Police riding
– The task force
– Operational communicative efforts
– Regional command center

The unit also has three office groups that are a supporting, preparatory and coordinating resource for the operational unit’s management and sections.

PKC is an organization with roughly 300 members. employees and receives 70% of all reports received by the Police Authority. PKC receives all telephone calls from all over Sweden at night. Our goal is to facilitate and streamline the investigation and prosecution process through good collaboration and provide citizens with professional service. The police contact center is located in the following locations in the Stockholm region: Farsta, Norrtälje, Gotland and Järva.

PKC is a workplace in change where we place great focus on operational improvements. As PKC gets increased responsibility and a larger scope of cases, PKC needs to collaborate to a much greater extent with other parts of the Police and participate more operatively in the fight against crime. The PKC employees get access to information and intelligence that needs to be put into a larger context in order to contribute better to the Police Authority’s set goals. In order to be able to take this responsibility, PKC has an operational manager who manages the work on a minute-to-minute basis.

We are now looking for operative leaders with the employment form of case manager or police inspector for one of our contact centers in Farsta or Järva.

Job description

As operational manager, you are a supervisor without direct personnel responsibility. The operational manager’s main area of ​​responsibility involves securing the day-to-day operations at PKC in Stockholm, i.e. operational management and control. You lead the event-driven activities at PKC, both among operators and preliminary investigation leaders linked to resources, inflow, assignments and situational picture. The operational leader must have a comprehensive grasp of what is happening at PKC Stockholm and make the decisions that the assignment requires. You are also involved in PKC’s important development work.

The operational manager’s duties include:

  • monitor case inflow, take measures and, if necessary, prioritize ongoing activities and resources
  • ensure accessibility to the police region’s PKC through active work management and staffing of queues
  • lead PKC during major events and stresses in society. If necessary, be prepared to be part of a larger management team
  • be the recipient of situational images from neighboring businesses as well as act and disseminate information within your own business
  • be the point of contact for other regional operational leaders and also responsible for disseminating information nationally within PKC
  • assess and decide on assistance with temporary investigative efforts (e.g. digital door knocking) and other operational support requested by the police region
  • lead PKC’s Tactical Forum and participate in several other operational meeting forums
  • lead work and be a support for employees in handling cases, advice and knowledge transfer regarding operational issues that do not concern preliminary investigation management
  • review and assess incoming information, tips and intelligence
  • handle personnel administration such as sick leave, VAB, vacations and decide on overtime etc. outside office hours

Region Stockholm takes all incoming calls nationally at night. For the operational leader, this means standby duty at night.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • high school diploma
  • at least two years of full-time and short-term work experience
  • good computer skills and experience with computers as work tools in daily work
  • very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
  • good ability in English, mainly in speaking and understanding
  • It is advantageous if you also have:

  • police degree in accordance with the Police Ordinance with approved postgraduate training and experience of work in external service or at a command center
  • experience as a manager or supervisor in activities that the employer deems relevant to the position
  • experience as an operator at PKC, preliminary investigation management or intelligence operations within the police authority
  • investigative experience from matters within the authorities/judiciary or equivalent
