40 houses built on land belonging to the Dumakuru-National Highway Department were demolished.
40 families built houses on the land given by the Gram Panchayat in Arashapura village of Koratagere taluk of Tumaguru district. But the land given by the Gram Panchayat belongs to the National Highways Department.
At present, the work of widening the National Highway is going on in Arashapura village. It is said that 40 houses are pending for this work.
As a result, the highway department officials decided to demolish the houses. But the inhabitants of the houses protested; They said that it was the village panchayat that gave the land.
Refusing to accept this, the highway department yesterday afternoon evicted the people from the houses and demolished the houses using JCP machines. Due to this, the people living in the houses screamed.
