Lindome Housing Company Required to Construct Post Boxes Worth Half a Million Amidst Complaints Against Postnord

by time news

The housing company Förbo received a message from Postnord stating that mail delivery to residents on Mattias väg in Lindome would cease unless a more sustainable solution was implemented. The tenants would have to retrieve their mail in Kungsbacka if no solution was found. Postnord demanded that mailboxes be placed along the road to allow delivery from a vehicle, and a larger module containing several mailboxes at a convenient distance for residents was approved. Despite the approval, Förbo criticized Postnord for transferring the blame to the property owners and the cost of the mailboxes. Postnord explained that collecting mailboxes in one place was not a new concept and was necessary in areas where their vehicles couldn’t drive. Förbo has homes in other regions and shared mailboxes will become relevant there as well.

According to Förbo, the message from Postnord was clear – the mail could no longer be delivered to the residents on Mattias väg in Lindome unless the housing company created a more sustainable solution, where the mail could be delivered in a simpler way.

If a solution could not be found, the tenants in Lindome would need to pick up their mail in Kungsbacka.

Want to be able to deliver from a vehicle

The requirement from the beginning was that a collection of mailboxes should be placed along the road, so that the mail could be delivered from a vehicle.

Now a larger module containing several mailboxes, which have been placed at a comfortable distance for the residents, has received the thumbs up from PostNord. Despite that, Förbo is very critical of PostNord’s actions. Not only because the mailboxes cost a total of around half a million.

– We have received many angry emails about this. PostNord transfers the blame to us property owners, that we are the ones who don’t take care of ourselves, says Mats Carlsson.

Will become more common in the future

The residences Mattias väg are a collection of terraced houses. According to Postnord, it is difficult to deliver the mail to the pedestrian passages between the houses, because PostNord’s vehicles cannot drive there. But PostNord does not see collecting mailboxes in one place as something controversial.

– There have been box collections in rural areas for as long as I can remember, so this is nothing new, says Håkan Schiller, distribution manager at PostNord.

Förbo also has homes in Kungälv, Härryda, Lerum and Mölndal. Shared mailboxes will also be relevant there.
