Moscow: Russia says it has arrested a Wall Street Journal reporter in the US on espionage charges.

The Russian intelligence unit called FSP (The Federal Security Service) said that the journalist named Ivan Karskovich was arrested from the Yekaterinburg region of the Ural Mountains. Ivan Kerskovich has been arrested on charges of intercepting and attempting to gather classified information, officials said.

This is the first time since the Cold War that an American journalist has been arrested by Russia on espionage charges. The arrest has taken place at a time when relations between the United States and Russia have intensified due to the war in Ukraine.

FSB officials also allege that Ivan Gershkovich spied in Russia at the behest of the US government. However, Russia did not say when Gershkovich was arrested. If convicted of this charge, Ivan Kerskovich could face up to 20 years in prison.

Ivan Gershkovich has been commissioned by the Wall Street Journal to cover Russia’s war in Ukraine. He also has a journalist accreditation card issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, Russia has arrested him as a spy.

Ivan Erskovich finally sent a news article to headquarters earlier this week. It is about how the Russian economy has collapsed due to Western sanctions.
