Increase fee to apply for American visa

This Wednesday, March 29, 2023, the United States Department of State reported the final resolution regarding increases in certain processing fees for nonimmigrant visa (NIV) and border crossing card (BCC) applications for Mexican citizens. Over 15 years old.

The fee for business or tourist visitor visas (B1/B2), BCC, and other non-petition based VINs, such as student visas and exchange visitor visas, will increase from $160 to $185.

While the fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (categories H, L, O, P, Q, and R) will increase from $190 to $205.

The US Embassy in El Salvador clarified that visa applicants who pay the visa application processing fee have 365 days from payment to make the appointment regardless of when the payment was made.

It should be noted that the increases were published in the Federal Register on March 28 and will take effect on May 30, 2023.
