The young American Allison Fisher, 20 years old, gained notoriety in the newspapers of Florida (USA) after surgically removing an ovarian tumor that weighed about 47.1 kg.

To the local channel News4Jax, from Jacksonville, Allison explained that the painting began in 2020, when she registered a menstrual cycle that ended up lasting a whole year and realized that something was wrong.

For not having a health plan, fearing the costs it could have — and the usual traumas, such as being told that her problems would only be solved if she lost weight —, the young woman avoided seeking medical help, hoping that it would pass.

It didn’t help. She began to experience severe pain in the abdominal area.

In 2021, Allison saw her mother receive a cancer diagnosis and pass away. It was then that she understood that she needed to worry about her own health. In November of that year, she plucked up courage and sought help at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside.

“It was also the height of the pandemic and I was scared to go outside. I didn’t want to try to find doctors. I didn’t have health insurance either, so I just ignored my issues completely. [Mas] After watching my mother’s battle and what she went through, I realized that I shouldn’t postpone my problems the way I was.”

Tests showed the presence of a non-cancerous tumor in her ovary, and surgery was indicated to remove it. Just before Christmas, Allison was rushed to the operating room after suffering vaginal bleeding so heavy it was believed to be hemorrhage, according to information from the British tabloid Daily Mail.

Doctors then removed the 47 kg tumor, which measured about 50 cm x 50 cm.

Before the operation, Allison weighed about 500 pounds, and since the surgery, she has lost about 100 pounds.

The young woman now intends to undergo bariatric surgery to help control her weight – she wants to keep it between 70 kg and 90 kg.

On television, the young woman claimed that the growth of the mass made her feel as if she were pregnant with ten children and prevented her from lying on her stomach, because it gave her the feeling of crushing her organs.

Today, she celebrates that she can see her own feet, something she hasn’t done for years.

Allison’s fertility was still preserved. During surgery, doctors located the woman’s left ovary, which remained the same size but, due to complications, had been twisted three times – which was replaced in the correct position during the procedure.

“I feel much lighter. I feel like a person, I can wear clothes, I can do things that normal people can do,” he declared.

Finally, Allison stressed that people should seek medical help and not postpone it for fear of the costs.
