Secondary roads of cinema and life

The universe at a single click, dear digital torete. It’s a pity that the covers of the platforms and the algorithms shepherd us just as radio and TV did. Perhaps now we feel special when giving our opinion on viral topics to generate a personal brand. Wow! And yet, in the narrowest vastness, the figure of the dowser who tells you other worlds should rise in price. But, on the contrary, the heterodox art critic is in danger of extinction in the media, and we see ourselves more and more as a society (said in the voice of Elisa Beni) without erudite Ciceros outside of the replicants on duty and trade. ‘From the margins: 300 films that you should see and that nobody else is going to tell you that you should see’ (ed. Walden Books) is a book written by Manuel Moreno, David Bizarro, Enrique Piñuel and José Sanz, aka the ‘Niño del Mondo Brutto’ if it had a flamenco title, and that discovers films that anyone can like but are not so well known. Reissue of two previous volumes and new reviews, it arose from the typical Facebook post years ago of ‘Propose me a movie for tonight’, and that the authors observed that obvious things were always thrown away, classics, there also being a lot of good ones out there. Among the works analyzed are the more or less known ‘Yo, Cristina F’, ‘Under the Skin’, ‘Starship Troopers’, ‘Network: an implacable world’ or more hidden watermarks such as ‘Pixote: the law of the weakest’, ‘ The swimmer’, ‘My dinner with André’, rarities like ‘Our RoboCop Remake’ and also less popular obrones from great directors like Korine, Rohmer, Herzog or Forman. And a lot of Spanish cinema: from ‘Megatón Ye-Ye’, ‘Crespià’ to the bizarre films by Jimmy Giménez-Arnau and Pedro Ruiz, or cult gems like ‘The Last Horse’, ‘Mamá es boba’ or ‘Animia de cariño’ . In the texts, in addition, there are hilarious cameos by Boyero (‘the blind idol’, ‘Boyero’s beating’… that is, the insulted insulter), but the important thing is the focus. Where does the energy go? And here it is in amplifying unknown joys. A judo key to homogeneity.
