The authorities took action after it was noticed that drivers were using public parking spaces widely without paying. It is common for drivers to stop the vehicle at such places to use their phones and other things. The municipal authorities clarified that those who use paid parking must pay the fixed rate within 10 minutes at most.

Officials also informed that the inspection will be widespread to find such people. Those who park without paying will be fined Dh150. A penalty of Dh100 will be charged if the parking area is used beyond the time the parking fee has been paid. The authorities also warned that a fine of 1000 dirhams will be imposed on those who park their vehicles in special parking spaces for the disabled. Drivers can pay parking fee through parking meter, SMS and Digital Sharjah app.
