The Africamultiple center of excellence of Joseph Ki Zerbo University proceeded to the dedication of the book “Terrorism in Burkina Faso: Negotiate or not? of which he is the initiator. The dedication ceremony took place this Friday, March 31, 2023 in Ouagadougou.

The book ” Terrorism in Burkina Faso: Negotiate or not ? is divided into two volumes. It is a collective work directed by Doctor Désiré Boniface Somé. This book examines the security situation in Burkina Faso in order to find other mechanisms for peace apart from the ” only intelligence of war “. It therefore appears that we must think negotiation “, because she is ” consubstantial with war “, explained the director of publication of the book, Dr Désiré Boniface Somé.

Negotiating here would therefore be about negotiating living together, agreements at the local level and dialogue for peace. In this sense, the state cannot negotiate directly with terrorist groups. This negotiation must take place through an intermediary and the principles of the rule of law and democracy are not negotiable.

They are more than thirty, the actors who intervene in this work. These actors from different social science disciplines are also of different nationalities. They are researchers from Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, France and Germany. The publication director welcomes this and thinks that in a secure situation the social sciences ” must be able, failing to give an answer, to shed light on citizens on, or towards possible solutions to the situation, to the crisis, to provide reflection even if this is not the remedy that they can give in a way total “. Finding solutions for the social body in crisis is therefore the responsibility of the social sciences.

The reflections contained in this work will make it possible to enlighten the Burkinabè authorities even more on the question of terrorism. For the director of publication, the usefulness of this work is that there is a diversity of approaches in terms of given leads and insights have been made “. He adds that these reflections have made it possible to identify the causes and to understand the actors involved in terrorism, their mode of action and the consequences they generate.

The dedication ceremony was an opportunity for the various players in the social sciences, academics and media professionals to discuss the issue addressed by this book.
