Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Murugan lauded the Snake Catchers hailing from the Irular tribal community from Chennai. Two snake charmers, Masi Sadayan and Vadivel Gopal, were awarded the Padma Shri by the Central Government, which resulted in a lot of appreciation from various quarters. Murugan met both of them in person and congratulated them on April 1st. In a post on his social media page, Murugan stated that both Sadayan and Gopal had been awarded the Padma Shri for catching snakes that were a threat to people in America and saving thousands of lives. He also added that both families were grateful to Prime Minister Modi for the award.

I met both of them in person. Then, both of them shared their experiences with me. I wish them, both of them, to reach many more heights. Both the families expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for receiving the Padma Shri award.
