On the other hand, Eddie Howe’s players continue to amaze and get closer to the champions next season. Earlier, West Ham beat Southampton 0:1.
Newcastle – Manchester United 0:2
United were simply not as good and allowed the host to get into countless situations. David de Gea saved the Red Devils many times, but in the 65th minute the Spanish goalkeeper was helpless against a Joe Wheelock strike at the net at the end of a spectacular team move by Newcastle. That wasn’t the end, and while the Red Devils were only busy attacking with attacking substitutions by Tan Haah, substitute Callum Wilson capitalized on Kieran Trippier’s good lift in the corner in the 88th minute to seal the final score. The fight for the Champions League is heating up.
West Ham – Southampton 0:1
The Hammers did what they had to do against the last in the table thanks to a valuable winning goal by Naif Agur from a tip by Tilo Kahrer in the 25th minute. In doing so, David Moyes’ side rose to 14th place and a point clear of bottom-of-the-red Everton, while the Saints are three points adrift of safety.
