Coimbatore: Bharatiya Mastur Sangam (BMS) has written a letter to the Union Textiles Minister asking NTC to pay the workers’ salary arrears immediately.

All India General Secretary of the Association, Ravindra Himde, sent a letter to Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal:

Due to the Corona lockdown, 23 NTC mills and five of its subsidiaries in the country have completely stopped production.

Further, the mill workers are facing economic crisis as they are paid only 50 percent of wages.

For the past seven months, they have been struggling without any salary; The family is also starving. Direct intervention and immediate action should be taken in this matter.

50 percent of the outstanding salary for the period from March 2020 to October 2022 should be paid. Salary outstanding from Nov 2022 should be paid.

In future, arrangements for disbursement of salary should be made within the specified time frame. Immediate payment of other statutory dues including provident fund contribution outstanding from March 2020 and necessary steps should be taken to provide adequate relief to the workers.

Similarly, a letter has been sent on behalf of Coimbatore District Bharatiya Masduar Sangh to open the closed NTC mills in Tamil Nadu.
