Anne Douglas died at 102, just over a year after the death of her husband Kirk. Kirk Douglas’ son of art, actor Michael, 76, paid tribute to her with a statement to People magazine: “Anne was more than a stepmother and she was never ‘bad’.” “He brought out the best in all of us, especially our father,” added the actor. “Dad would never have had the career he had without Anne’s support and collaboration. Catherine (Zeta-Jones, ed.) And the kids and I loved her; she will always be in our hearts.”

The ‘Pursuit of the Green Stone’ star said Anne was very reserved, unlike her father who couldn’t keep a secret. “That’s why I was so moved when I read the book they wrote together, ‘Kirk And Anne’, in which she talked about her early life in Germany; his war years in occupied Paris; and her career before I met my father, “she said of the Hanoverian-born producer and philanthropist, who had occasionally also been an actress.

Kirk Douglas had married producer Anne in 1954 and they had two children together. Kirk already had two children – Michael and Joel – with his first wife Diana Dill before they separated in 1951. Anne died a few days after she turned 102. Wishing her a happy birthday on April 23, Michael shared a family photo on Instagram.
