A 41-year-old Dutch man is being prosecuted for exceeding the country’s limit on semen donations. He is suspected of having deceived hundreds of women in Europe and may be the father of more than 550 children, according to the organization “Donor Child Foundation”.Only in the Netherlands, where each donor is allowed to have a maximum of 25 children, Jonathan Jacob Meijer had 102 descendants in different clinics. After being discovered in his country, six years ago, he started to make donations in other places as well, such as Denmark and Ukraine.

The case was taken to court in an attempt to stop Jonathan from making further donations. The trial is scheduled to take place on April 13.

The justification for having a donation limit in the Netherlands is that children can have their mental health affected by learning that they have thousands of half-siblings, in addition to the possibility of becoming romantically involved with a relative without knowing it.
