How to fix the problem of application crashes in Windows computers | Technology and cars

by time news

Ammon – Sometimes you may encounter problems with applications on Windows computers, such as: the inability to run a specific application or that the application stops working after only a few minutes of starting to use it. There are many reasons that can lead to these problems, most notably: not updating the application or the Windows operating system itself, or running many applications at the same time or using the computer for a long time without turning it off, and many other reasons.

Regardless of the cause, the following methods can help resolve application-related issues on Windows computers:

1- Use the troubleshooting tool:

The Windows system contains a built-in Troubleshoot tool that can detect and solve some problems such as: application crashes and others. To use the troubleshooting tool, follow these steps:

Go to the Settings app, then select System.

Click on the Troubleshoot option, then choose (Other troubleshooters).

Click the Run button next to the Windows Store apps option.

Wait for the tool to scan for problems in the operating system, and if the tool finds any, it will appear in a report and the tool will suggest fixes for you to try.

2- Update applications:
Since app updates contain fixes for bugs that may have appeared in older versions, as well as new features, an app update can help address issues that cause crashes.

To update an application on Windows computers, go to the Microsoft Store, search for the application, and then click the update button that will appear if new updates are available for the application. If the app is not available in the Microsoft Store, head to the app’s official website and install the latest version from there.

3- Close other applications:
If you are working on several applications at the same time, they may conflict with each other, causing problems with an application. To make sure that running multiple apps at the same time affects the functioning of a particular app, close all apps except the crashing one. If it works fine after doing that, then one of the other apps was causing the problem.

In this case, you can start running the previously working apps one by one to identify the problematic app, and uninstall it, to avoid any issues in the future.

4- Repair or reset the application:
The Windows system provides the Repair feature and the Reset feature to help fix problems that applications may encounter. If the app is broken, you can first try to fix it by letting the operating system find and fix any issues with the app automatically, without deleting data or settings.

However, it is important to know that the repair feature may not be available for all applications installed on your computer. In addition, this feature may not help solve all issues with apps.

If the app still doesn’t work after the repair process, try resetting it to restore the default settings, and remove all your in-app settings and data.

To access the Repair feature and the Reset feature, follow these steps:

Go to the (Settings) application, then select (Applications).

Click on the (Applications and features) option Apps & features.

Click the three-dot button that appears next to the name of the problematic application, and select (Advanced options).

Scroll down until you reach the Reset section, where you will find the Repair option and the Reset option.

5- Reinstall the app:

If none of the previous methods fix the issues with the app, you can uninstall it and then reinstall it again. This will clear any data or settings that may be causing issues with the app.

Since this procedure will delete all data associated with the app, make sure to create a backup copy of important data. After that, you can go to the Control Panel to uninstall the application and then reinstall a new version from the Microsoft Store or from the official website of the application.
