Tirupur: Through traders who participated in the ‘India Knit Fair’ exhibition in Tirupur, exporters have said that there has been a new awareness about Tirupur’s synthetic fiber clothing production abroad.
The 49th India International Knitwear Fair was held in Tirupur last month under the auspices of Indian Knitwear Fair Association (IKF), Tirupur Exporters Association and Readymade Garment Export Promotion Council.
The exhibition, seminar and ‘Fashion Yesha’ all centered on synthetic fiber clothing and recycled clothing.
Made from discarded ‘pet bottles’, polyester yarn, dyed without even a drop of water, and the new technology of clothes were very popular.
Traders and trading companies from countries including America, United Arab States, Uganda, France, Italy, Canada, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia visited the exhibition. Also, ‘branded’ ready-made garment trading companies in Delhi and Bengaluru also participated.

Through the exhibition, foreign traders realized that Tirupur, which was focusing only on the production and export of cotton fiber garments, has also made a mark in the production of synthetic fiber garments. They were greatly amazed to see Tirupur’s manufacturing prowess with sustainable environmental protection.
After 10 days of the fair, Tirupur’s eco-friendly features have become the talk of the town among foreign traders and customers. Foreign traders are praising it as ‘wow…wonderful’.
Information about sustainable green initiatives such as ‘zero discharge’, solar and wind power generation, rainwater harvesting and tree planting is spreading rapidly on social media.
