Damage to vehicles caused by floods increased by 48% in the summer of 2023, against the same period last year, points out the online insurer Youse. One of the reasons for the increase in these data was the disaster on the north coast of São Paulo, but also the torrential rains in the south and also in the northeast of the country.

According to the company, the tow truck service and alternative means of transport were the most requested by customers amidst the floods. In addition, the insurance company pointed out that 30% of the occurrences were registered in São Sebastião, a municipality that suffered from heavy rains earlier this year but was distributed in other parts of the country.

The National Federation of General Insurance – FenSeg pointed out that at least 2,700 vehicles were serviced by insurers on the north coast of the state of São Paulo after disasters caused by heavy summer rains. See this special article on what to do after your vehicle has been hit by a flood.
