Sydney ∙ A Japanese-Australian joint research team has discovered a fish that lives more than 8 kilometers deep in the sea. Two snailfish were caught in a trap set 8022 meters below sea level in the deep sea of southwest Japan. Prof. Alan Jamieson, who leads the research team, said that this is the first time that these fishes of the Pseudoliparis belieevi species have been found at a depth of more than 8 km. Its length is about 11 cm. At a depth of 8336 meters, another species of snailfish has also been caught on camera.
