Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman of Neyveli-NLC, India, said in a press release:

NLC, India is expanding its operations in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam and Andaman & Nicobar Islands in ‘Pan India’ mode. It is also operating mines at Neyveli and Parsingsar in Rajasthan with an annual capacity of 3.21 crore tonnes of brown coal and 2 crore tonnes of coal.

It is operating brown coal-based power plants of 3460 MW capacity at Neyveli and Rajasthan and a coal-based power plant of 1000 MW capacity at Thoothukudi. In renewable energy sector, 1370 m in Tamil Nadu. Watt., operates solar power projects (including 20 MW operating in Andaman & Nicobar Islands). The company also operates 51 MW wind power plants in Tamil Nadu.

At present, the company has a mining capacity of 5.21 crore tonnes of lignite and coal per annum and a power generation capacity of 6061 MW per annum. Further, the company is planning to implement expansion works to increase its mining capacity to 8.41 crore tonnes per annum and power generation to 17171 MW.

NLC, India released its production performance and its project implementation highlights for the financial year 2022-23 on 31.03.2023. Accordingly, the company has announced another successful financial year (2022–23). The company has set a record of generating 3008 crore units of electricity, generating 219 crore units of electricity in a year, more than ever before in green electricity generation.

It has set a record in coal production by producing 1.003 crore tonnes of coal per annum, more than ever before. As far as brown coal is concerned, the company has mined 2.354 crore tonnes of brown coal, despite many hurdles in land acquisition. During the year under review, the revenue collection crossed Rs.14600 crores. While the capex target was Rs 2,920 crore, the company has achieved Rs 3,010 crore.

Chairman Prasanna Kumar Motupalli said that it has won the first place in timely payment and the second place in the overall ranking among the best Central Public Sector Enterprises on the website called ‘e-marketing’ of the Government of India.
