Daria Trepova’s arrest has raised questions about her background and ties to politics.
Trepova, 26, is being investigated by Russian authorities as the alleged material author of the murder of Russian blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, whose real name was Maxim Fomin, 40, a supporter of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Tatarsky died this Sunday while he was in a cafe in Saint Petersburg.
The Russian media claim that Trepova was the one who gave Tatarsky a small sculpture with explosives that when they exploded ended their life.
In a video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, Trepova is seen admitting that she brought the statuette to the cafe where the explosion took place. But her statement was most likely obtained under duress, and she also doesn’t say anything about whether she knew she was carrying the explosives.

Trepova did not say who gave her the statuette, but Russian authorities blame opposition figures.
Las Russian authorities say the murder was planned from territory ukrainian and that the suspect is a supporter of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), led by imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny.

Russian investigators have reportedly not ruled out the possibility that Trepova did not know what the statuette contained.
