INTERVIEW – One in five people is at risk of developing diabetes. To avoid it, simple measures such as losing 5% of your weight and practicing physical activity are effective.

Type 2 diabetes is a disease on the rise all over the world, and also in France. What is, today, the percentage of the diabetic population and the rate of people at risk of developing diabetes in our country?

Currently, 5% of French people are diabetic and it is estimated that 20 to 30% of the population are at risk of developing diabetes. But of course it depends on the age. If you are over 50 and have contributing factors, your risk of developing diabetes in the next ten years is higher than at age 30.
