The Third Section of the Provincial Court of Oviedo has reduced the prison sentence imposed by two and a half years to the man known as the ‘stiletto rapist‘, who was sentenced in 2019 to 13 years in prison for sexually assault a woman with a 65% mental disability in a pension in Oviedo in 2017.
After the entry into force of the “only yes is yes” law, the defendant now faces 10 and a half years in prison. In the same way, the magistrates have also reduced to 11 years and 6 months the prohibitions of approaching and communicating with the victim, which were originally set at 14 years.
In addition, it has been imposed disablement special for any profession or activity that involves regular and direct contact with minors for 15 years and 6 months.
He assaulted more than 20 victims
The ‘stiletto rapist’ has a long criminal record. For years he raped women across the country using the tool that gave him his nickname. In 1987, the Court of Lugo sentenced him to 73 years in prison, of which he only served 32 when the law came into force. Parot doctrine.

Stop penalty reductions
Given the increase in reductions in sentences and releases due to the new law for the comprehensive guarantee of sexual freedom, the State Attorney General’s Office has once again given guidelines to prosecutors to stop them. It has done so through an internal circular in which the general rule is not to support the reduction of sentences if it is capable of also being applied with the ‘only yes is yes’.
Thus, the Prosecutor’s Office has asked to prioritize cases that could end with releases and, in the event that the sentences are reduced, it has opted for other measures such as probation.
