Coimbatore: A proposal has been sent to the government asking for Rs 196.43 crore to carry out works in 41 assembly constituencies under the Coimbatore Corporation under the ‘Chief Minister in Your Constituency’ scheme.

Chief Minister Stalin had called upon each MLA to nominate 10 tasks in their constituency, prioritizing the long-term unaddressed demands under the ‘Chief Minister in Your Constituency’ programme. For this, a special fund of Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked.

Accordingly, 10 MLAs in Coimbatore district also gave recommendation letters to the Collector. Coimbatore South, North, Singanallur, Goundampalayam and some parts of Kinathukadavu, Thondamuthur constituencies fall under the municipal limits.

The recommendation letters given by the MLAs belonging to these constituencies were examined and the demands under the corporation were separated separately.

Among them, Rs 196.43 crore has been requested from the Corporation to the Government of Tamil Nadu to carry out 41 works, including laying of new tarred roads, renovation of old roads and repair of cement roads.
