Jayanthan, who was living with his family, has not been seen since March 18, his sister lodged a complaint with the police. The incident began to unfold when the police found that Jayanthan had gone to Pudukottai to meet Bhagyalakshmi during the subsequent investigation. After questioning, the woman confessed to the crime. Bhagyalakshmi also told the police that the body was dismembered and buried in the outskirts of Chennai.

According to the police, Bhagyalakshmi, a sex worker, committed the murder with the help of another man. Jayanthan used to go to Bhagyalakshmi regularly. The meeting became regular and fell in love. Bhagyalakshmi says that they got married in a temple a few years ago and later got separated. It is not clear whether Jayanthan’s family is aware of this relationship,” The Indian Express quoted one of the senior officials of the investigation team as saying.

“On March 18, Jayanthan met Bhagyalakshmi who came to Pudukottai. Bhagyalakshmi’s statement is that this time she committed the murder with the help of another person. The body was cut into pieces and buried in plastic bags. More clarification is needed regarding the murder. The investigation is in progress under the leadership of the Pudukkote police,” said the official.
