Olympic Games 2024: Paris is looking for a surf spot for its Games

by time news

Breakdancing, climbing, skateboarding and surfing have taken another step towards their entry into the Paris 2024 Games, alongside the 28 Olympic sports already on the programme. Pending December 2020 and the final validation of the program, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave its agreement, this Tuesday in Lausanne (Switzerland), to the proposal of the four additional sports. Paris 2024 can therefore move on to the next step: first and foremost, find the ideal spot to host the surfing competitions in five years.

From this Wednesday, June 26, 2019, a call for applications to choose the site that will host the kings of the wave will be launched. Interested sites have until July 15 to come forward officially, by sending a letter of interest and initial technical information. Paris 2024 will visit the candidate sites during the summer. Then, the candidate sites will have to send a complete file before September 30, 2019.

The site for the surfing competitions, which should be part of the Paris 2024 vision for sustainable and responsible Games, should be chosen at the start of 2020. Any territory wishing to receive information on the procedures for choosing the site for the competitions de surf is invited to get closer to the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee.
