DMK members in Thanjavur pledged not to put up illegal banners in court, but have since caused disruptions by putting up banners and flags. This issue of unregulated banner placement gained attention last year when a young girl named Subhasree died due to a falling blue banner in Pallikaranai, Chennai. During the hearing in the Madras High Court, DMK’s organizational secretary RS Bharti acknowledged the party’s efforts to control the banners and plaque boards, but the recent actions undermine his affidavit. During a party program, Sports Minister Udhayanidhi caused disruptions by blocking roads and putting up placards and party flags without notice from the police and municipal administration. Social activists raised concerns about the forgotten DMK affidavit.

Thanjavur: While filing an affidavit in the court saying ‘We will not put up illegal banners’, DMK members have caused disruption by putting up banners and flags in Thanjavur.

Last year, 2019, a young girl named Subhasree died when a blue banner fell on the roadside in Pallikaranai, Chennai.

Regarding this incident, during the hearing in the Madras High Court, on behalf of the DMK, its organizational secretary RS Bharti said, ‘The measures taken by the DMK to control the banner, cut-out, and plaque board. To bring attention, the affidavit is being attacked and we will respect the orders issued by the court,’ he filed the affidavit.

But yesterday Sports Minister Udhayanidhi came to participate in the party program in Thanjavur.

For that, from the hotel where Udhayanidhi was staying to the university, they blocked the road and put up placards and tied party flags on iron bars along the road and caused disruption to the public.
