In October last year, the UN Council adopted a resolution in which it recognized the need to monitor the observance of human rights in Russia. At that time, the UN referred to “a clear connection between internal repression and war abroad.”
Subsequently, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation at the UN in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, condemned this resolution. At the same time, he stated that “the organization is turning itself into a tool of the West.”
