Ministers did not attend; Kuwait National Assembly session adjourned for the fourth time

Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti National Assembly meeting was again postponed after the cabinet members did not participate. The National Assembly session scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed. This is the fourth time the National Assembly session has been adjourned since the resignation of the government. The cabinet meeting will be held after Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Kuwaiti National Assembly session was postponed due to non-attendance of government representatives and lack of quorum. The law requires the members of the cabinet to attend the National Assembly session. The National Assembly session was adjourned for the last four times due to non-participation of cabinet members.

Ministers including the Prime Minister did not participate in the national conference on January 25. Then the Kuwait National Assembly session was postponed to February 7 and 8. The National Conference was again postponed to February 21 and 22 due to non-participation of the Cabinet members. Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court annulled the National Assembly elections. With this, the Parliament of 2020 was restored. Tuesday was scheduled to be the first session of the National Assembly convened after the restoration of Parliament.

Although the old MPs and the Speaker have returned to the Parliament, the cabinet formation is yet to be completed. It is estimated that there is a possibility that the National Assembly session will be disrupted until the formation of the new government is completed.
