Leipzig players celebrate (Reuters)
The middle of the week brought with it the quarter-final and semi-final stages in the various cups in the strongest leagues in Europe, when in the focus of the evening (Wednesday) Red Bull Leipzig eliminated Borussia Dortmund from the quarter-finals of the German Cup with 0:2.
It was a one sided game with Schwarzglaven struggling a lot and hardly threatening the goal. Leipzig dominated the game from the first moment, benefiting from goals from Timo Werner who scored with a touch in the 22nd minute and Willy Urban who added a burst in the 96th minute and advanced to the semi-finals.
Dortmund, for its part, continued its bad period with this relegation being the team’s third loss in the last five games. Along with being kicked out of the Champions League and losing first place to Bayern Munich, the Schwartzglaben will have to wake up quickly in order not to lose the championship fight.
Carmonza – Fiorentina 2:0
The magical journey of the team from last place in the Italian league is in great danger. Carmonza was not able to continue the ability that characterized it in the cup and saw Artur (20′) and Nico Gozales (75′) in the penalty give Fiorentina 0:2 away and get a big advance heading into the second leg.
Nantes – Lyon 0:1
