Port-au-Prince: More than 40 killed in petrol truck explosion in Haiti, Caribbean; Many were injured.
Prime Minister Ariel Henry said on Tuesday:
The news of a petrol truck explosion on Monday in Cape Haitian is very distressing. More than 40 people were killed in the crash.
Police have been refusing to answer questions about the crash. Therefore, no further details have been released on how the accident happened.
Eyewitnesses said a large number of people were holding buckets of petrol when the truck exploded.
The media reported that many of the injured were admitted to hospitals and are receiving treatment.
The accident comes as Haiti is reeling from a fuel shortage.
