Kozhikode: Shahrukh Saifi, who was caught in the incident of pouring petrol on the bodies of passengers on the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express, has jaundice. The accused was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College after his illness was confirmed. The confirmation came in the blood test results released on Thursday.

Police questioned the suspect who was brought to Kozhikode on Thursday morning. He was interrogated at a camp in Malurkunn, Kozhikode. Later he was taken to the medical college for medical examination. It was then that Shahrukh was confirmed to be ill. It has not been clarified whether he will be produced in court or taken into custody.

The custody application is considered to be based on the information obtained during the preliminary interrogation. Shahrukh will be taken into police custody considering his health condition. However, if there are more suspects, the demand for detailed custodial interrogation will be raised before the police magistrate at the first stage to reach them.
