Competition warns of illegal behavior and leaves threat about sanctions

The Competition Authority (AdC) left a notice for navigation aimed at the value chain of goods arriving at Portuguese homes, including food: the entity recalls that the exchange of strategic and sensitive information between companies is illegal; argues that competition occurs when there is pressure on profit margins; and, after frantic years of administrative offenses in food distribution, it recalls that it is ready for more investigations and sanctions.
“Greater competition between companies results in lower prices, through downward pressure on profit margins and costs, to the benefit of consumers’ well-being and the competitiveness of the economy”: this is one of the starting points for the recommendation that AdC left this week to suppliers and retailers of consumer goods, with emphasis on food, where inflation continues to punish the pockets of the Portuguese.
