PAK vs WI: Second T20, Pakistan series against the Windies

Karachi: Pakistan won the three-match T20 series 2-0 with a thrilling nine-run victory in the second T20 (PAK vs WI) against the West Indies. Batting first, Pakistan scored 172 for eight in 20 overs. Chasing a target of 173, the Windies were all out for 163 in 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi, who took three wickets in an over, eased Pakistan to victory.

After losing opener Shay Hope (1) and soon after Shamra Brooks (10), the Windies were left reeling from the loss of Brandon King and captain Nicholas Pooran (26). Romario Shepard (35 * off 19 balls) smashed two fours and two sixes in the final overs to keep the Windies at bay. Brandon King was the Windies’ top scorer with 67 off 43 balls with six fours and three sixes.

Earlier, Pakistan lost the toss and opted to bat. Fakhar Zaman (10) could not hold on to the crease for long. Mohammad Rizwan (38 off 30 balls) and Hyder Ali (31 off 34 balls) put on a half-century for the third wicket.

After Rizwan’s dismissal, Iftikhar Ahmed (32 off 19 balls) and Shadab Khan (28 off 12 balls) smashed the wicket to take Pakistan to 150. At the end of the 18th over, Pakistan were 141 for seven. Shadab and Asif Ali put on 31 runs in the last two overs. Odin Smith took two wickets for the Windies. Pakistan won the first match by 63 runs. The third match of the series will be played on Thursday.
