In this regard, Government e-service center employees said: Currently, there are 511 government e-service centers and 383 permanent ‘Aadhaar’ enrollment centers. Of these, a total of 1,110 persons are employed as data entry personnel.
The government cable company does not provide any basic facilities required by these centers. All these centers are slated to be closed, officials said.
The reason for this is the setting up of 10,000 private e-service centers by the Directorate of Electronic Services. Once the centers become fully functional, all the government centers will be closed, they said.
If the government centers are closed, the livelihood of 1,110 people will be in question. Therefore, the government centers should be allowed to operate in addition without closing them. Thus they said.
