The Port of Algeciras launches an app to improve passenger traffic

The Algeciras Bay Port Authority (Spain) has launched an application for mobile devices designed for passengers from the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa, which optimizes the quality of service and improves the transit of passengers and merchandise through the port facilities.

Through this application, users can see updated in real time the schedules of the ships, the status of embarkations and disembarkations, the assigned berth number, the shipping company or the vessel that will cover the service. Information is available in English and French.

The software is now available to passengers traveling on the Algeciras-Ceuta, Algeciras-Tánger Med and Tarifa-Tánger Ville lines, who can plan their journeys with greater precision, as well as optimize and expedite their passage through port facilities. The app is now available for Android and iOS phones. In addition, heavy traffic drivers who cross the Strait of Gibraltar daily will benefit.

It is worth mentioning that in 2022, the ports managed by the Algeciras Bay Port Authority registered the passage of 4.4 million passengers, although the border for passengers remained closed until April due to sanitary restrictions due to the COVID 19 pandemic, almost a million passenger vehicles and more than 460,000 trucks.

On the other hand, the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras has made progress in its objective of developing infrastructures for the electrical supply to ships by receiving two new proposals. This is Ghenova Ingeniería and the temporary union of companies formed by Mose Serveis D’Enginyeria and Técnicas Gades.
