Postnord was used to send a registered package.

Emilie Blomgren, a resident of Gothenburg, Sweden, and her children created Easter cards for her aunt in Switzerland, along with purchasing Swedish candy to include in a package. She paid extra for registered mail to track its delivery on time. While Blomgren believes both Sweden and Switzerland have excellent postal services, unlike Spain and Chile, she is currently experiencing issues with a package she sent via Postnord, which has been transported to multiple locations such as Härryda, Toftanäs, Malmö, Länna and Stockholm, some of which the package has visited several times. Postnord is investigating the issue but believes it may be connected with an incomplete customs declaration, though Blomgren believes the postal code may have been incorrect. The company recommends Blomgren placing a trace or a complaint.

Gothenburger Emilie Blomgren’s two children made Easter cards and she herself bought Swedish candy for her aunt in Switzerland before Easter. They put it all in a package to send to the city of Concise. In order for the package to arrive on time, she was out early and in order to be able to track the package, Emilie Blomgren paid extra and sent the package by registered mail.

– Both Sweden and Switzerland are really excellent postal countries. In Switzerland, everything always goes perfectly, she says and compares it to other countries she has sent to before, such as Spain and Chile, which had major problems.

But this time it hasn’t gone as planned. Emilie Blomgren handed in the family’s Easter package in a grocery store in Majorna, after which it has since been transported to, among other places, Härryda, Toftanäs, Malmö, Länna and Stockholm.

Some of the places, such as Härryda, the package has been to several times.

– I can follow how the package travels in the app and it’s absolutely insane. It has been going back and forth, says Emilie Blomgren and adds that it was a completely ordinary blue envelope which is not at all unwieldy.

“Unnecessary work”

The 350 kroner now feels wasted and she also believes that it must mean a lot of extra work for Postnord. And she still doesn’t know where the package is.

– So much unnecessary work, just do it right from the start, says Emilie Blomgren.

Anders Porelius is a press spokesperson at Postnord and has investigated what has happened to the package.

– We don’t see an exact reason why it hasn’t been sent on at the moment, we think it may have something to do with an incomplete customs declaration, he answers first.

In such a situation, packets must be sent back to the sender, that is, the sender address must instead become the destination. But things have not gone as planned at the export terminal in Skåne.

– The package has not received a regular return scan in the sorting with us, therefore the package has “spinned around” instead of going directly back to the sender.

“Really unclear”

A little later, Postnord comes to the conclusion that there may have been a mistake with the postal code – an extra digit may have been added during the course of the work.

– The whole thing is really unclear what has happened, says Anders Porelius.

They don’t know where the package is right now.

– The best thing would have been if the sender comes to us so we can put a trace or a complaint to locate the shipment and see what was physically there.

Emilie Blomgren has tried to get in touch with customer service, but without success. And this new information she gets answers from.

– Oh my God! But is it still on the way? Works like that in the app, but doesn’t understand anything.
