In a video message sent to the newsrooms, André Ventura assured that Bolsonaro and Salvini have already confirmed their presence in Lisbon “for the great event of the world right” that Chega is organizing and that will take place on the 13th and 14th of May.

“Bolsonaro will arrive in Lisbon on the 12th and leave on the 15th, according to a communication officially received yesterday by Chega”, said the party in a note sent to journalists.

In the video, Ventura argues that this event “will place Lisbon at the center of the world’s right”.

“The presence of Jair Bolsonaro, Matteo Salvini and many other leaders of the European right, marks Lisbon as one of the new centers of the strongest right in Europe and one of the world references in the fight against socialism”, he considered.

The leader of Chega called for participation in the event and praised the “recognition of international peers” of the party.

On the 23rd of March, André Ventura confirmed that he was organizing a “large-scale event” to bring together leaders of the European extreme right in Lisbon and also the former Presidents of Brazil and the United States, Jair Bolsonaro and Donald Trump.

At a press conference in Lisbon, André Ventura indicated that the party also invited “several leaders of the European right”, including Santiago Abascal, from the Spanish Vox, and the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, who Chega “really liked”. to have in Portugal”.

The objective of this event, he said at the time, is to be similar to the Conference of Political Action of Conservatives (CPAC, in its acronym in English), considered the most important meeting of the ultraconservative movement in the United States of America.

“The idea was to be very similar to the North American CPAC”, with interventions, conferences, moments of interaction and “rallies at times with some more popular leaders or with greater mobilization”, he said.

Matteo Salvini was already present in 2021 at a Chega congress that took place in Coimbra.
