Seoul SK, which earned the title of ‘master of come-from-behind’ by producing dramatic come-from-behind victories several times at the end of the regular season, reached the semi-final playoffs by directing thrilling come-from-behind plays in two consecutive games in the round of 6 playoffs (3 out of 5 wins).
SK defeated KCC 77-72 in the 3rd game of the 2022-2023 SKT Adot Pro Basketball 6th round playoff held at the Jeonju Indoor Gymnasium on the 7th and advanced to the 4th playoff with 3 consecutive wins. Following the 6th round victory, SK ran for 3 consecutive wins in the playoffs, showing off its terrifying momentum by running for the last 12 consecutive wins. On the 14th, SK will play the first game of the playoffs in the quarterfinals against Changwon LG, which is second in the regular league, at the Changwon Indoor Gymnasium.
SK, which overcame a 15-point gap in the second game on the 5th and won after an extended game, played a role-playing game that day as well, trailing by 16 points and catching up. SK struggled with a huge 34-49 lead in the first half. KCC’s ace Heo Woong (20 points, 5 assists) scored 15 points in the first half alone, and Laguna and Dion Thompson tied SK’s main scorer, Jamil Warney (30 points, 13 rebounds), with a 23% field goal success rate in the first half.
SK seemed to reduce the gap with Warney’s 2 points at the start of the 3rd quarter, but immediately gave a 3-point shot to Heo Woong, widening the gap to 16 points. SK, who succeeded in overturning the 15-point lead in the second game, did not give up. With Kim Seon-hyung (10 points, 10 assists) at the forefront, SK’s speed revived and the flow of the game changed. As cracks appeared in KCC’s defense, SK Warney’s scoring was also revived. With one minute left at the end of the 3rd quarter, SK followed up to 56-58, 2 points.
Even in the fourth quarter, SK, which had been using Warney to close the gap with KCC, succeeded in turning the game around 71-70 with Kim Seon-hyeong scoring a quick break to Choi Bu-kyung (14 points, 8 rebounds) past the end of the second minute. After blocking KCC’s attack, Warney’s floater score was added, breaking KCC’s will to pursue. In KCC, Jeon Jun-beom added 11 points, including 3 3-pointers, following Heo Woong, but the other players lacked scoring support. In particular, it was painful that La Gun-ah, the main scorer, only scored 2 points, and Lee Seung-hyun, who has a double wall with Heo Woong, only scored 9 points.
