Chairperson of the Lithuanian community in Israel Vėbraitė-Adereth: there are fears of further escalation

Israel says it launched a rocket attack on Islamic militant group Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon. It is said to be in response to dozens of rockets fired into the northern part of the country on Thursday. Israel blames Hamas for them. This is the first time since April 2022 that Israel has confirmed an attack on Lebanese territory. The latest outbreak of violence came after Israeli police clashed with Palestinians at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque, Islam’s third-largest site, on Wednesday. Foreign countries condemned these actions and called for restraint.
