The new Marina hotel complex erected on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Cotonou is ready for operation. It will be by a public company created by the government during its council of ministers on April 5, 2023.
The hotel complex operating company will be responsible for preparing the upcoming commissioning of the new 5-star hotel built as part of Benin’s ambitions in the tourism sector. In detail, the government entrusts the company with the following activities:
- the definition and monitoring of operating objectives as well as the identification of levers for development and attractiveness;
- the management of the technical, commercial and administrative aspects related to the operation;
- defining operating specifications and monitoring operator performance;
- the structuring and monitoring of rental management (search for partners, contracting, estimation of the rental value and review of rents, collection, etc.);
- managing the maintenance and repairs of rental property;
- the contractual management of the partners involved in the hotel complex.
It should be noted that the operating company will be 100% owned by the Société des Patrimoines Immobiliers de l’Etat (SoPIE SA).
New hotel flagship
With these 200 rooms, an international conference center and a multifunctional building including gastronomy, cinema, games rooms, etc., the hotel complex that Benin is about to launch has everything to be the new hotel flagship of the country. . It is built on the site that housed another symbol of the hotel industry, the Benin Marina Hotel, Sheraton from the 80s to the 2000s.
The construction of the new hotel jewel took into account the renovation of the International Conference Center of Cotonou. The new establishment will operate under the Sofitel brand of the Accor group.
