NASA’s Parker Solar probe has traveled to the upper atmosphere of the Sun. It became the first spacecraft to come so close to a star.

“For the first time in history, a spacecraft touched the sun. NASA’s Parker Solar probe flew through the upper atmosphere of the Sun – its corona, collected data on particles of solar energy and its magnetic fields, ”- said in a statement from NASA.

Going forward, the probe will continue to fly through the atmospheric corona to collect more data. The next flight is expected in January 2022.

NASA believes that the data obtained by Parker will help meteorologists predict important changes in space weather that could affect the Earth.

NASA launched the automatic station Parker Solar Probe to study the Sun in 2018, its mission is expected to last seven years.
