Despite the fact that he had said that he would not race pavé classics this year, Gianni Moscon will be part of the game in Paris Roubaix. The Italian got off Itzulia today to be present in Hell of the North, where he will be one of Astana’s cards.
The Italian, 4th in the 2021 edition, was not going to be on the cobblestones because he has just recovered from a broken clavicle, so he did not want to compromise his plans in the Ardennes and the Giro. But, apparently, he was summoned by the Kazakhs.
As Itzulia ends on Saturday and Roubaix is on Sunday – that is, they don’t step on each other – you don’t need permission from the organization. If the situation had been different (a coincidence of dates) it would have needed authorization from the organizers, in this case, from the Basques.
