Service providers and the Mayor’s Office agreed on the prices of products and services in the Carnival season.

The tourist service providers of the Los Taques municipality long for the seasons of a decade ago.

Although they assured that this Easter 2023 was much better than the Carnival holiday, still for some they represent low sales.

During a tour of the Villa Marina beach, vendors selling food and rentals for everyone, as well as swimsuits, life jackets and hats, stated that there was a large influx of visitors, but they did not buy. Most of the people brought their food and drinks.

The coordinator of the Villa Marina street vendors, Ingrid Da Silva, explained that “for what we are used to, there were no sales, there was an influx of bathers, but nobody bought. I only sold one bathing suit and two hats this Good Friday. The tourist expense is not seen, it was like another weekend ».

María Rosendo, owner of a food stall and awning rental on the beach, said that in this Greater Week sales were 70% better compared to Carnival.

“In a week off, people began to arrive this Holy Thursday and those who came brought their food,” he said.

Carlos Guerrero, owner of another restaurant on the beach, was the only one of those consulted who obtained good sales, more than 50% than in Carnival, he said.

“I sold since last weekend, perhaps because my prices are competitive and I have my clients from many years ago,” he said.

Leyda Díaz, another swimsuit seller, stated that this season was not what was expected, although Carnival was worse.

“Last year there were a lot more people, perhaps the gasoline problem affected a lot,” he said.

Prices of tourist services

All these prices were agreed during the Carnival season between the service providers and the Institute of Culture and Tourism of the jurisdiction.

In addition to seafood dishes, other providers offered combos of empanadas, cakes, and tequeños starting at a dollar, in order to offer more options to seasonal visitors.

The Los Taques Tourism Institute in conjunction with the Municipal Trustee, the Collection Office and Treasury prosecutors of the Mayor’s Office verified compliance with the regulations by the providers and the charging of fair prices on this Easter holiday.
