Prime Minister Modi has inaugurated the new integrated terminal at Chennai International Airport, which cost Rs 1,260 crore. He arrived in a private Air Force flight from Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport this afternoon to participate in various programs in Chennai. He then visited the new integrated terminal, which has been designed to reflect Tamil culture with traditional features such as kolams, sarees, temples and natural surroundings. The new terminal will increase the passenger service capacity of the airport from 23 million passengers to 30 million passengers per year. Prime Minister Modi will also be flagging off the ‘Vande Bharat’ high speed train service between Chennai and Coimbatore. Prior to his visit, 22 thousand policemen were engaged for security work in Chennai.

Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Chennai airport in a private Air Force flight from Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport this afternoon to participate in various programs in Chennai. Later, he reached Chennai International Airport by road. Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister Stalin and other leaders welcomed him.

Following this, Prime Minister Modi visited the new integrated terminal. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new integrated terminal built on 1.36 lakh square meters at a cost of Rs 1,260 crore.

The new integrated terminal building built at Chennai International Airport will increase the passenger service capacity of the airport from 23 million passengers to 30 million passengers per year, according to the central government.

The new terminal is designed to reflect Tamil culture with traditional features such as kolams, sarees, temples and natural surroundings.

At 3.25 pm from the airport, the Prime Minister will arrive at the INS Adyar naval base near Napier Bridge by air force helicopter, from there by car to Chennai Central MGR railway station and flag off the ‘Vande Bharat’ high speed train service between Chennai and Coimbatore at 4 pm.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, 22 thousand policemen are engaged in security work in Chennai.
