Collapsed building in Marseille: the “smoldering fire”, puzzle for firefighters, trap for victims

Long hours after the beginning of the drama, the fire is not yet extinguished. Marseille firefighters are still fighting, this Sunday at the end of the day, against a fire that broke out in the rubble of a building that had fallen into disrepair at the start of the night, following an explosion possibly due to a gas leak. “The difficulty is that the fire is a few meters below the rubble”, commented at the start of the afternoon the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, present on the spot.
