Judiciary admits appeal to re-evaluate Keiko Fujimori’s request to leave the country

The Second National Criminal Court of Appeals admitted for processing the appeal made by the defense of the leader of Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimori, who requests permission to travel to Madrid, in order to visit the headquarters of the World Law Foundation, at the invitation of his president.

Previously, the Judiciary declared unfounded a request by the former presidential candidate to travel to the Spanish capital, due to the restricted appearance imposed on her as a result of the “Cocktails case”, for which she is being investigated.

The collegiate chaired by Judge Víctor Zúñiga Urday, considered that the appeal met the necessary technical requirements for the court to issue a respective pronouncement.

At the time, Zúñiga Urday rejected Fujimori Higuchi’s request, despite the fact that it had been processed since the last months of 2022, due to the request for 30 years of preventive detention requested by the Prosecutor’s Office against the also former congressman.
