Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners

Ukraine and Russia announced on Monday that they exchanged a hundred prisoners of war from each sidein the first such exchange in over a month.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement the repatriation of 106 of his soldiers, who he said were “in danger of death” during their detentionreported the AFP news agency.

The soldiers will be flown to Moscow to receive medical and psychological assistance.the ministry said.

By your side, The head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andrii Yermak, announced the return of 100 soldiers to Ukraine.

“We repatriated 100 of our men, soldiers, sailors, border guards and members of the National Guard,” explained Yermak, who said the swap “was difficult.”

“Some are seriously injured and suffering from diseases. We will do what is necessary so that each one receives the necessary help”added on Telegram.

The last prisoner exchange between kyiv and Moscow occurred on March 7, when Ukraine took back 130 of its military and Russia 90.

In December 2022, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky indicated that more than 1,300 prisoners had been repatriated by kyiv in exchanges with Russia since the beginning of the war, marked by the invasion of February 24, 2022.
