Almost 12,000 people have visited the San Sebastian Aquarium during the first four days of Holy Week, the oceanographic museum reported in a statement on Monday. Specifically, a total of 11,822 people visited the Aquarium San Sebastian facilities between Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday. These figures place the Aquarium at a level of visitors similar to that registered last year at this time, according to the center.

These almost 12,000 visitors represent a daily average of 3,000 people. Thus, 2,723 people visited the facilities on April 6, 3,524 on Good Friday, 3,013 people on Saturday and 2,562 on Sunday. Regarding the origin of the visitors, the Biscayans occupy the first place in the ranking (20.9%), followed by visitors from Navarra (16%), Gipuzkoa (13%), France (9%), Álava (7 %), Rioja (3.81%) and Madrid (3.23%). So far this year, 68,955 people have visited the San Sebastian Aquarium, figures that maintain it as “the most visited museum in Gipuzkoa”. In fact, those responsible for the Aquarium expected yesterday to exceed the figure of 14,000 visitors since last Thursday.

The four newborn sharks of the Alitan species have been the protagonists these days with the usual Bull Sharks ‘Txuri’ and ‘Conchita’, as happens throughout the year with the skeleton of the Right Whale. Tourists have enjoyed the two floors of the museum and its 32 aquariums without any kind of incident.

In view of the weather forecasts and taking into account the difficulties of access due to the closure of the Paseo Nuevo, those responsible for the Aquarium yesterday made a very positive balance of the whole of Easter 2023. «During these days the image that looked the San Sebastian port has been spectacular taking advantage of the hot days. Thousands of tourists have taken advantage of visiting the San Sebastián museum to take a boat trip and have lunch in the surrounding restaurants,” said the aforementioned sources. Since the beginning of the year, the San Sebastian Aquarium has already accumulated a total of 68,955 visitors.
