New Delhi: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the inclusion of spinner R Ashwin in India’s squad for the World Twenty20 was in the interest of then-captain Virat Kohli. Ganguly was speaking on the show ‘Backstage With Borea’ hosted by Borea Majumdar.
It was Kohli who argued for Ashwin. I was confused about that. Everyone is talking about Ashwin’s performance. Look at what coach Rahul Dravid said after the Kanpur Test. Dravid described Ashwin as the best match winner and the best player of all time. There is no need for rocket science to evaluate his ability.
I see no reason not to support Ashwin. Look at his success figures. Ashwin was part of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 2011. Ashwin was still the leading bowler in the tournament when he won the Champions Trophy in 2013. Ganguly clarified.
